Zoll Campus on Roblox transforms career orientation into play
With “Zoll Campus” we created a Roblox experience for the German Customs’ recruitment department. Instead of brochures or career fairs, young people discover Zoll careers in a playful way — by stepping directly into the world of customs officers, students and professors.
Reaching future Zoll officers where they are
Traditional recruitment channels alone no longer capture the attention of Gen Z. To present Zoll as an attractive employer and study opportunity, the task was to meet the younger target audience in their digital habitat and translate customs’ complex tasks into a fun and accessible format.
From career fair to game world
Together with the agency Zum goldenen Hirschen, who provided the concept and content, we transformed Zoll’s recruitment strategy into a Roblox game. Instead of passively consuming information, players actively engage with the world of Zoll.
Gamification with real impact
Leveling up, hidden collectibles, mini-games and quizzes make the Zoll universe tangible while rewarding progression with limited Roblox UGC items. In this way, we designed motivation loops that merge entertainment and recruitment messaging.
Progression through Zoll ranks
Players start as “Zoll-Newbie” (Level 1) and can rise to “Zoll-Legende” (Level 5) by collecting points. Activities include finding hidden Zoll memorabilia, answering quiz questions, and competing in three themed mini-games.
Campus at the heart of Zoll careers
The Zoll Campus forms the central hub of the experience. Players can visit the dormitory to speak with students about daily life and the academy to meet professors who share program details and insights.
Airport Customs “Wimmel Wirrwarr”
Spot passengers trying to smuggle forbidden items like ivory or exotic fruits.
Tax Office “Steuer Check”
Match products such as coffee beans or wine to the correct import tax rate.
IT Department “Server Search”
Retrieve missing data sticks from the labyrinth of Zoll’s digital backbone.
Motivating rewards through Roblox UGC
Reaching higher levels unlocks exclusive Zoll items, such as LED “HALT ZOLL” glasses, a Zoll basecap, and Inspector Wuffbert — a puppy companion in a backpack. These digital collectibles strengthen identification and ensure virality on Roblox.
Consistent brand presence
The entire experience was styled according to Zoll Karriere’s brand guidelines, creating a recognizable look & feel that merges digital play with the employer’s identity.
The experience has been live since September 2025 and has been a great success: all 3,000 limited UGC items sold out within just a few days, and in the first month it attracted over 25,000 visitors. In the future, it can be expanded with new mini-games and content for upcoming recruitment phases to further boost engagement.
