In order to create an impactful virtual product experience, we couldn’t just focus on the physics of it. We had to treat expression as more than an output. It had to be part of a constant exchange that encourages collaboration and feedback in order to bring the product to life and foster individual validation. One that demonstrates the might of an edding by instilling a sense of fame.

Walls don’t have to divide, they can be a canvas that brings people together. A stage for everyone to express themselves. A living story awash with colors and powerful phrases, doodles and impressive murals. A place where creativity is celebrated and marks are made. The Wall of Fame reclaims walls for good.
Personal expression is at the center of the experience. After all, it’s not the extra large logo that makes you fall in love with something like a marker – it’s the creative joy that the marker gives you. That’s why we took a very subtle approach when it comes to interface design and brand communication. Besides a few obligatory buttons, it’s just you, your art and your virtual edding.

As more and more people leave their mark, the limited canvas space naturally fosters a creative exchange among artists. The Wall of Fame is not just live – it is alive with individual show-offs, creative collaborations and artsy arguments. It cultivates the joy of individual expression through shared creation. Only at certain thresholds does the wall – and thus the canvas – grow to keep the conversation going. The result is a collective story told through thousands of individual expressions, and an endless artwork that evolves with every stroke.

Marks are only truly made if they are talked about. It’s the fame that makes them count: An emotional stage that lifts artists higher with every comment, Like and share. With on-platform chat we put artists directly in touch with their fans. Found a gem? Save it with a snapshot and share it with your friends or simply give it the “Fame” it deserves at the press of a button.
Quality as a Catalyst
The most important driver for becoming an inspirational and engaging art platform that generates high-quality content is having such content to begin with. Together with the agency La Red, a launch campaign and contest were realized to make people’s creative fuel burn with specially curated topics and influential artists, including Laura Klinke, Reyhan Yildirim and Pablo Fontagnier (Hombre SUK). It wasn’t just a success – it set the right creative and qualitative tone for all strokes to come.
Central to experience is a drawing engine that transfers every stroke onto a digital canvas with respect to the features of the specific marker as well as velocity, curvature and even pressure – guaranteeing a true edding feeling. Each stroke is saved individually for completely separable artworks that are distributed as optimized vector graphics (and easy to moderate). Based on WebGL, this modern technological approach allows the Wall of Fame to transport edding’s power of expression around the world with great accessibility and maximum visual quality on all possible devices and media – now and in the future.
