One of a kind 3D portfolio website
A one of a kind modular site for DES – consultancy and engineering for building services. With a fascinating project-world to discover via drone on the one hand. And an easy to maintain and straightforward content module on the other.
For DES, offering building services, we designed a custom website to showcase their expertise on the field from consultancy and planning to implementation and maintenance. The website shows DES’ passion for technology and design, understanding of architecture and high standard in execution at a glance. The user enters a fururistic and edgy 3D-project world that’s built on an architectural grid. While navigating a drone through the scenery, the user learns everything about DES and their lighthouse projects. Due to the modular structure of the website, the content can easily be curated and updated by DES on a frequent level.
A place like no other – performance of it’s own
DES - building services engineering
DES is not like the others in the field. In contrary to many other companies, they specialize exclusively in what they can do best – building technology. At a standard of its own. And that was exactly what they wanted their company website to match. It should be unique, bold, innovative, show their love for design and their lighthouse projects. And on the same hand it should be fast, dynamic, flexible and up-to-date.
A modular website with impressive UI and handy CMS
The user faces an impressive 3D project world by entering the page. A drone is ready. Waiting to be navigated through the bold dark downtown world by the user. Whilst following the directions on the ground or just experimenting with the drone, the user experiences the content that’s connected to the buildings. From the DES services to some of their projects. By “droning” over the spots they can be discovered. The adherent contents build the informative backbone of the website. This second module is based on an easy to handle CMS which can be updated by anyone in charge in realtime. So, we crafted both in one website: an impressive and unique 3D portfolio and a slick and quick overview for those who just search information.
The DES shaped buildings
The DES logo is the center of the 3D scene. There’s three buildings in the shape of it. When the drone approaches them, the user is able to see behind the walls. Every building communicates a special expertise of DES.
The highlight buildings
We modeled 4 buildings matching realized projects that stand out in the DES portfolio. They serve as anchors for information and enable deep dive into the content module. The accurate 3D buildings can be explored via drone from all angles.
The park and the runner
There’s also a recreational zone. Stylized greens, trees and a lake. To communicate the green standard and the sustainable thinking of DES. And speaking of it: more about the DES mindest can be explored when approaching the runner. Icon for the DES values and attitude.
The 2D informal module
For the content part of the page (reached via the menu or by hitting “more” below the teaser content in the project-world) a simple, tidy 2D part serves the purpose of informing and still fitting the aspirational 3D-design-part. Thanks to the CMS the DES executives can easily publish, edit and maintain the content on the page.
WebGL Experience with optimized SEO performance
However, a good website needs above all also do one thing: it needs to be found! In the development of the 3D Experience, we therefore placed great importance on an optimized SEO performance. From both a technical and editorial perspective, the new website thus offers an ideal basis for strong search engine optimization with Google and Co.
A 3D Web Experience
We created a web experience based on WebGL technology that allows attendees to navigate freely in a 3D space using their arrow keys or a joy stick interface. Meaning it works on all devices. Anytime. Anywhere in the world.
